About Us
The Self-Help and Development Everywhere (SHADE) was established in 2010 by a group of like-minded Sierra Leoneans with the aim of helping women and young girls to stand up and say no to certain harmful traditional practices and all other violence inflicted on women and girls in our society.
It started as a voluntary and community-based organization with the idea of not only fighting against domestic and gender-based violence but also encourage women to contribute meaningfully towards nation building after the civil conflict that has destroyed the country’s safety-nets and social fabrics.
Aside its core mandate of flighting for rights of women and other disadvantaged groups, SHADE SL is also working in the area of anti-trafficking of persons, child protection, water and sanitation, Education and general sensitization.
SHADE-SIERRA LEONE envisions a society where the rights of women and children including minority groups are respected, gender justice is realised, and the environment is protected. Thus assuring a life where people can thrive and realized their fullest potentials. We provide a platform where people can speak up on issues affecting their individual and societal problems and search together for everlasting solutions to those problems. SHADE-SL, working for fairer communities.
